Hello there!
If you are reading this, it means you are a food lover, too!
Friends would describe me as a foodie, “gourmand”, passionate cook, food expert, food explorer. As I wake up, I think about what I will cook tonight. I plan dinner evenings with friends weeks in advance- reading food magazines and books. I know every food program on TV, and I follow food influencers on social media passionately. I experiment with recipes, always use fresh ingredients, and seek for the result that combines deliciousness, best quality, and visual sensation.
If you`d ask me where this passion comes from- I wouldn`t know the exact answer. I do not come from a chef family and my parents or grandmother used to prepare simple average meals. I grew up in the former Soviet Union- which means that there was no restaurant culture for the regular folk. Yes, we did have family gatherings with table full of food, enough to feed a whole football team (oh, that`s just so Latvian) and I guess from there comes my love for festive, sophisticated dinner parties. I was not afraid to experiment with recipes since I was around 7 years old – creating “cheese yachts sailing in black currant sauce” and “rhubarb pancakes” for school picnics.
There are 2 things from my past that come together in my love for cooking. First, I have loved arts and crafts since I was a child. I am excited about shapes, colors, textures, and that is sooo prominent in food! Secondly, since my childhood I have been passionate about gardening and growing food. So, putting it all together – I am passionate about the whole cycle. From growing my own food to sophisticated, artistic presentation on the plate.
